Products found to contain undeclared medicines

Health Canada is advising consumers not to use these products which were found to contain undeclared sibutramine. Sibutramine was previously used to treat obesity but is no longer authorized for sale in Canada because of its association with an increased risk of cardiovascular side effects such as heart attack and stroke. In addition side-effects associated with sibutramine include increased blood pressure and heart rate, dry mouth, difficulty sleeping and constipation.

In Hong Kong, the above products are not registered pharmaceutical products. News regarding these products has been released by the TGA and was posted on the website of Drug Office on 23 December 2011 and 9 March 2012.
