Recall one batch of pms-Rosuvastatin Tablets 40mg |
|
The Department of Health (DH) today (January 6) endorsed a licensed drug wholesaler, Trenton-Boma Limited (T-Boma), to voluntary recall one batch (batch number 481460) of pms-Rosuvastatin Tablets 40mg (registration number: HK-61934) from the market due to potential quality issue.
T-Boma notified DH that the product’s manufacturer in Canada found, during the stability study, that the samples of the affected batch contained a degradated compound exceeding the specification limit. As such, the manufacturer decided to recall the affected batch. The manufacturer is still conducting investigation on the root cause of the issue. So far, there is no indication that other batches available in Hong Kong are affected.
So far, the DH has not received any adverse reports in connection with the product. Investigation is continuing.
pms-Rosuvastatin tablets 40mg , containing rosuvastatin, is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of hypercholesterolaemia. According to T-Boma, 46 boxes of the affected batch had been supplied to private doctors and pharmacies since Sep 2014.
T-Boma has set up a hotline (8101 2716) to answer related enquiries. The DH will closely monitor the recall.
