Fresenius Medical Care Canada expanded recall to include all lots of Naturalyte Sodium Bicarbonate Liquid Concentrate manufactured in 2014 due to potential bacterial contamination. Details of the lot numbers involved can be found in the Health Canada's website.
Bacterial contamination poses a potential risk of bacteremia (bacteria in the bloodstream) from the contamination of dialysis concentrates. Consumers are advised not to use the affected lots, and to use only NaturaLyte Sodium Bicarbonate Liquid Concentrate product from lots not affected by the recall or an alternative product.
