Health Canada announces that Baxter Corporation is recalling one lot of 0.9% sodium chloride injection, USP (lot number: W5C06A0) from wholesalers, retailers, health care establishments and pharmacies due to solution bags leaking.

The product is indicated for use as a source of water and electrolytes, a vehicle or diluent for compatible products for parenteral administration and a priming solution in hemodialysis procedures, as specified in the product monograph.
In Hong Kong, 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection (HK-58996), 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection, USP In Mini-Bag Plus Container (HK-61943), Sodium Chloride Solution For Infusion 0.9% w/v In Aviva Container (HK-62220) and Sodium Chloride Solution For Intravenous Infusion 0.9% w/v (HK-64733) are pharmaceutical products registered by Baxter Healthcare Ltd. All products are prescription-only medicines. Baxter Healthcare Ltd has been contacted regarding the above issue and their reply is pending.
