| The United Kingdom: Company-led drug recall: Immukin solution for injection - Boehringer Ingelheim Limited |

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency announced that Boehringer Ingelheim Limited is recalling ten batches of Immukin 2 x 106 IU (0.1mg) solution for injection. The batched affected are 202794, 202794A, 204754, 204754A, 204754B, 301147, 301147A, 301147B, 301147C and 301147D. An unidentified impurity was found during routine stability testing. Since the impurity is currently uncharacterised, the above batches are being recalled as a precautionary measure.

In Hong Kong, Immukin Injection 100mcg/0.5ml (HK-43554) is registered by Boehringer Ingelheim (HK) Ltd (Boehringer). According to Boehringer, only the batch of 301147B among those affected batches was imported into Hong Kong and has never been distributed to the Hong Kong market. Related news has been released by TGA and was posted on the Drug Office website on 4 February 2014. The Department of Health will keep vigilant on any safety information related to the product.
