The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has tested a product labelled African Vigorous Max Strength and found that it contains the undeclared substance sildenafil.
Sildenafil may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. People with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart disease are often prescribed nitrates. Sildenafil taken in combination with other medications can cause serious side effects.
Consumers are advised that sildenafil is a prescription-only medicine in Australia. The supply of African Vigorous Max Strength containing undisclosed sildenafil is illegal. The TGA advises consumers to exercise extreme caution when purchasing medicines from unknown overseas websites.
Consumers are advised to stop using African Vigorous Max Strength and take any remaining product to their local pharmacy for safe disposal. If they have any concerns arising from their use of this product, consult their healthcare practitioner. Consumers should note that although the product is labelled to contain capsules, the package contains tablets.
