|
The Department of Health (DH) today (15 August) endorsed a licensed drug wholesaler, namely Trackcircle.com Limited (Trackcircle), to recall one batch (batch number: 286480A) of Isozid (isoniazid) 0.5g powder for solution for infusion vial, from the market due to the presence of visible particles in one vial following reconstitution.
The DH received notification from Trackcircle that the overseas manufacturer of the product is recalling the above batch due to visible particles found in one vial following reconstitution during on-going stability testing. As a precautionary measure, Trackcircle voluntarily recalls the affected batch from the market.
The above product contains isoniazid, and is a prescription medicine used for tuberculosis. The product is not registered in Hong Kong but was imported for the treatment of particular patients by the Hospital Authority (HA). According to Trackcircle, the affected batch was imported into Hong Kong and supplied solely to the HA.
Trackcircle has set up a hotline (35270198) to answer related enquiries.
So far, the DH has not received any adverse reaction reports in connection with the above batch of product. The DH will closely monitor the recall.
Health-care professionals who have the product in hand should return the product to the supplier.
