The United States: FDA, FTC warn five companies illegally selling dietary supplements claiming to treat infertility (English only)

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announces that FDA and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued warning letters to five companies for illegally selling dietary supplements that claim to cure, treat, mitigate, or prevent infertility and other reproductive health disorders in violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act). The warning letters were issued to:
- LeRoche Benicoeur/ConceiveEasy (product: ConceiveEasy)
- EU Natural Inc (products: CONCEPTION Female Fertility Prenatal and CONCEPTION MEN Male Fertility)
- Fertility Nutraceuticals LLC (products: CONFLAM- Forte™, FERTINATAL® DHEA and OVOENERGEN™ CoenzymeQ10)
- SAL NATURE LLC/FertilHerb (product: FertilHerb for Women)
- NS Products, Inc (product: NaturaCure)

Dietary supplements that claim to cure, treat or prevent infertility and other reproductive health conditions can potentially harm consumers who use these products instead of seeking effective treatments.

Unlike drugs approved by the FDA, the agency has not evaluated whether the unapproved products subject to the warning letters are effective for their intended use, what the proper dosage might be, how they could interact with FDA-approved drugs or other substances, or whether they have dangerous side effects or other safety concerns.

In Hong Kong, the above products are not registered pharmaceutical products.
