The United States: bio LIT may be harmful due to hidden drug ingredient

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is advising consumers not to purchase or use bio LIT, a product promoted and sold for cognitive enhancements on various websites and possibly in some retail stores.

FDA laboratory analysis confirmed that bio LIT contains 1,4-dimethylamylamine (DMAA) not listed on the product label. The dietary supplement industry often refers to DMAA as “geranium extract”.

Use of DMAA can elevate blood pressure and could lead to cardiovascular problems, including heart attack, shortness of breath and tightening of the chest. Consumers who have experienced any negative side effects should consult a healthcare professional as soon as possible.

Please refer to the following website in FDA for details: http://www.fda.gov/drugs/medication-health-fraud/bio-lit-may-be-harmful-due-hidden-drug-ingredient

In Hong Kong, the above product is not a registered pharmaceutical product.
