| The United States: Public Notification: Tawon Liar contains hidden drug ingredient |
| |
The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) continues to advise consumers not to purchase or use Tawon Liar, a product promoted for pain, rheumatism, insomnia, improving the immune system, increasing energy and lowering cholesterol, sold by Bella’s Nutri Shop, and possibly in some retail stores and on various websites.
FDA did additional laboratory testing of Tawon Liar and found the product contains tapentadol, dexamethasone and meloxicam not listed on the product label.
Tapentadol, the active ingredient in the FDA-approved prescription drugs Nucynta and Nucynta ER, is a controlled opioid substance used to treat severe pain. Common side effects of tapentadol include drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and constipation. It also can cause life-threatening effects such as slowed or stopped breathing and severe low blood pressure. As with all opioid pain medicines, there are serious risks of misuse and abuse, addiction, overdose and death.
