Health Sciences Authority (HSA) announces that the manufacturer Sun Pharmaceutical is recalling 5 batches of Bepraz Gastro Resistant Tablets 20mg (rabeprazole) (batch number: PTE5026A, PTF2799B, PTF2801A, PTF4994A, PTF5774A) to the consumer level as a precautionary measure due to detection of low levels of an impurity, a degradation by-product of the active ingredient, in one batch. There is no immediate cause for concern given the low levels of impurity, which has no evidence of harm.
Rabeprazole is indicated for severe (erosive or ulcerative) gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, active peptic ulcer disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
