The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is advising consumers that Grakcu capsules may pose a serious risk to your health and should not be taken. The TGA Laboratory has tested a product labelled Grakcu and found that the capsules contained undeclared medicines sildenafil and tadalafil.
Both sildenafil and tadalafil are prescription-only medicines in Australia and when taken either alone or in combination with other medicines, can cause serious side effects.
Consumers may not realise they are taking prescription medicines as sildenafil and tadalafil are not declared on the product label. This increases the chance of dangerous drug interactions, contraindications and unexpected side effects.
Sildenafil and tadalafil may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. People with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart disease are often prescribed nitrates for these conditions.
Grakcu capsules have not been assessed by the TGA for quality, safety or efficacy. Importing products that contain undisclosed sildenafil and tadalafil, such as Grakcu capsules, is illegal under Australian therapeutic goods legislation.
Consumers are advised to stop using Grakcu capsules and take any remaining product to your local pharmacy for safe disposal. If they have any concerns arising from their use of these products, consult their healthcare practitioner.
