MME Naturally Maxman capsules, Blue Fantasy capsules, African Superman tablets and MosKa - energy for adults are products promoted for sexual enhancement, and they were found to contain the following undeclared drug substances:
- MME Naturally Maxman capsules and Blue Fantasy capsules - contain sildenafil;
- African Superman tablets - contain sildenafil, tadalafil, and glibenclamide; and
- MosKa - energy for adults - contain vardenafil.
Sildenafil, tadalafil and vardenafil are prescription drugs used to treat erectile dysfunction and should only be taken under the supervision of a healthcare professional. They should not be used by individuals taking any kind of nitrate drug (e.g., nitroglycerine) as it can cause potentially life-threatening low blood pressure. Individuals with heart problems are at increased risk of cardiovascular side effects such as heart attack, stroke, chest pain, high blood pressure and abnormal heartbeat. Glibenclamide (also known as glyburide) is a prescription drug used to treat diabetes. It should only be taken under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Side effects associated with glibenclamide include severe low blood sugar which may cause sweating, paleness, chills, headache, dizziness and confusion. Consumers who have these products are advised not to use them, and should consult with a healthcare professional if they have concerns about their health related to the use of these products.
