Products found to contain undeclared medicines

Australia: Safety advisory: Magnum XXL capsules

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) tested an imported product labelled Magnum XXL in 2019 and found that the capsules contained the undeclared substance tadalafil.

As the TGA continues to see imports of this product, in February 2025, it tested a newly imported product labelled Magnum XXL, and found that the capsules still contain the undeclared substance tadalafil.

Tadalafil may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. People with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart disease are often prescribed nitrates for these conditions. Tadalafil taken either alone or in combination with other medication can cause serious side effects.

Consumers are advised that, tadalafil is a prescription-only medicine in Australia and the supply of Magnum XXL capsules containing undisclosed tadalafil is illegal. The TGA advises consumers to exercise extreme caution when buying medicines online.

Consumers are advised to stop using Magnum XXL capsules and take any remaining product to their local pharmacy for safe disposal. If they have any concerns arising from their use of this product, consult their healthcare practitioner.
