Products found to contain undeclared medicines

Australia: Safety advisory: Dynamint X tablets

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has tested a product labelled Dynamint X tablets and found that they contain the undeclared substance tadalafil.

Tadalafil is used in the management of erectile dysfunction and may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. People with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart disease are often prescribed nitrates for these conditions. Tadalafil taken either alone or in combination with other medication can cause serious side effects.

Consumers are advised that tadalafil is a prescription-only medicine in Australia and the supply of Dynamint X tablets containing undisclosed tadalafil is illegal. The TGA advises consumers to exercise extreme caution when purchasing medicines from unknown overseas websites.

Consumers are advised to stop using Dynamint X tablets and take any remaining product to their local pharmacy for safe disposal. If they have any concerns arising from their use of this product, consult their healthcare practitioner.

Please refer to the following website in TGA for details: http://www.tga.gov.au/news/safety-alerts/dynamint-x-tablets

In Hong Kong, the above product is not a registered pharmaceutical product.
