Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) announces that it has tested a product labelled Artri King tablets and found that the tablets contain the undeclared substances diclofenac, dexamethasone and phenolphthalein.
Diclofenac, dexamethasone and phenolphthalein taken either alone or in combination with other medication can cause serious side effects. Consumers are advised that dexamethasone, phenolphthalein and diclofenac (at certain higher dosages) are prescription-only medicines in Australia. The supply of Artri King tablets containing undisclosed diclofenac, dexamethasone and phenolphthalein is illegal. Artri King tablets have not been assessed by the TGA for quality, safety or efficacy as required under Australian legislation, and the place of manufacture is not approved by the TGA.
