Australia: Recall: Comvita MediHoney Antibacterial Wound Gel 25g & 50g (English only)

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) announces that Comvita Australia Pty Ltd is recalling certain batches of Comvita MediHoney Antibacterial Wound Gel due to problems with the packaging:

- Comvita Medihoney Antibacterial Wound Gel 25g (batch number: 2311, 2326, 2328, 2340, 2341, 2345, 2346, 2419, 2433, 2434)
- Comvita Medihoney Antibacterial Wound Gel 50g (batch number: 2326, 2332, 2412, 2422, 2434, 2442)

The packaging may not be sealed properly, which can make the product non sterile or cause it to leak. Identified problems include an incompletely sealed foil liner and a folded tube seal that can leave a small gap. If the packaging of a sterile product is damaged or inadequate, there may be a risk of product contamination and subsequent infection if the product is used on an open wound. It could also lead to delays in treatment if the product cannot be used as intended.

The product is used for minor burns, cuts and grazes.

Please refer to the following website in TGA for details: http://www.tga.gov.au/safety/recalls-and-other-market-actions/../comvita-medihoney-antibacterial-wound-gel-25g-50g

In Hong Kong, the above product is not a registered pharmaceutical product.
