Products found to contain undeclared medicines

Australia: Muses Coffee (Magic Thin) sachets pose a serious risk to your health and should not be taken
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has tested a product labelled Muses Coffee (Magic Thin) sachets and found that the sachets contain the undeclared substances sibutramine and phenolphthalein. Consumers are advised that sibutramine is a prescription-only medicine (which was the active ingredient in Reductil). Sibutramine was withdrawn from the Australian market in Oct 2010 after a study showed an increased risk of major cardiac events. Phenolphthalein is also a prescription only medicine and was withdrawn from sale in the 1990’s due to concerns over increased risk of cancer with long term use and is no longer available in Australia as an approved medicine. Consumers are advised to stop taking Muses Coffee (Magic Thin) sachets and take any remaining sachets to their local pharmacy for safe disposal. If they have any concerns arising from their use of this product, consult their health care practitioner.
