Canada: Recall of unauthorized health product: "Cellfood" – due to false and misleading labelling

Health Canada has requested that two Canadian distributors, Vivicell Distribution, Inc. and Cellfood Canada, to stop sale of and recall Cellfood, an unauthorized health product manufactured by Nu Science Corporation. This product has an eight-digit natural health product number (NPN80004392) appearing on its label. However, this NPN was issued for a different Nu Science product. As such, it is Health Canada's view that the labelling of this product is false and misleading.

The NPN (80004392) appearing on the label of the unauthorized version of Cellfood was issued to Nu Science Corporation for a different product with the same brand name, which may cause confusion. The authorized product should only contain iodine and water, whereas the unauthorized product, according to its label, contains different medicinal ingredients, including dissolved oxygen, trace minerals, plant source amino acids and enzymes.

Health Canada has received one adverse reaction report involving symptoms of nausea, diarrhea, headache and sore throat associated with the use of the unauthorized product.

Please refer to the following website in Health Canada for details: http://healthycanadians.gc.ca/recall-alert-rappel-avis/hc-sc/../40241a-eng.php

In Hong Kong, the above product is not a registered pharmaceutical product.
