How to use ear drops
|
1. |
Wash your hands with soap thoroughly. |
2. |
Face your affected ear upward by tilting your head sideways or lie on your side. |
3. |
Gently pull the ear upward and backward (for adults), or downward and backward (for young children). |
4. |
Instill into your ear the prescribed number of drops. Avoid touching the bottle tip by your hand or ear to prevent contamination. |
5. |
After instilling, keep your head tilted sideway for about 2 minutes to allow the medicine to spread inside the ear. |
6. |
Do not wash the tip. Place the cap back to the bottle and tighten it right away. |
Notes for use
- If necessary, ask your family members or someone else to put the ear drops in for you.
- Never use discoloured, deteriorated or expired ear drops.
Possible side effects
Instillation of cold ear drops can cause dizziness. For ear drops that require refrigeration, hold the bottle in your hands for a few minutes and warm the ear drops to near body temperature before use.
Consult your doctor immediately if you experience any allergic reactions such as skin rash, swelling of the face or hands and breathing difficulty.
