How to use pessaries

Wash your hands with soap thoroughly and remove the wrapping. |

Pull out the applicator plunger and place the pessary into the applicator. |
3. |
Lie on bed with your knees bent to facilitate the insertion of the pessary. |
4. |
Carefully insert the applicator into the vagina as far as it will go comfortably. |
5. |
Slowly press the plunger until it stops to place the pessary into the vagina. Then remove the applicator. |
6. |
Pull out the plunger from the applicator. Clean both of the plunger and the applicator with water and soap, then rinse and dry. Put the two pieces back together and store it in a clean, dry place. |
If an applicator is not available

Wash your hands with soap thoroughly and remove the wrapping. |
2. |
Use fingers to carefully insert the pessary into the vagina as deep as it is comfortable. |
3. |
Wash your hands afterwards. |
*If you are pregnant, do not use an applicator. Use fingers to insert the pessary. Put on a finger cot or disposable gloves first if necessary.
Notes for use
- Once inserted, pessaries will melt in the vagina and may leak out. It is best to use pessary before bed.
- Symptoms may disappear a few days after starting treatment. It is important to continue the medication until the whole treatment course is completed.
- Do not stop using the medication during menstruation.
- Some pessaries may damage condoms and diaphragms. Please refer to individual product instructions.
Possible side effects
Shortly after insertion of the pessary, you may experience mild side effects such as mild burning or irritation of the vagina.
Consult your doctor immediately if you experience any allergic reactions such as skin rash, swelling of the face or hands and breathing difficulty.
Storage
Store the medications in a cool, dry place and away from direct heat and light. Generally, there is no need to store in the refrigerator unless stated on drug labels. Store the medications out of reach of children to avoid accidental ingestion.
