Australia: Safety advisory:GNY Australia products: MSV Strong Version, ESV Extra Strong Version and RL Rapid Loss soft gel capsules were found to contain the undeclared prescription substance sibutramine |
|
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has tested MSV Strong Version soft gel capsules, ESV Extra Strong Version soft gel capsules and RL Rapid Loss soft gel capsules and found that they contain the undeclared prescription substance sibutramine despite the product labels claiming that they are made of herbal ingredients and contain no medicines. Sibutramine is a prescription-only medicine (which was the active ingredient in Reductil) and was withdrawn in October 2010 after a study showed an increased risk of major cardiac events. Also found in the products was a known sibutramine impurity with unknown health risks. Consumers are advised to stop taking these products and take any remaining soft gel capsules to local pharmacy for safe disposal.
