Australia: Safety advisory: Hypnotic poisom capsules contain the undeclared substance sibutramine and phenolphthalein

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has tested a product labelled Hypnotic poisom and found that the capsules contain the undeclared substance sibutramine and phenolphthalein. Consumers are advised that sibutramine and phenolphthalein are prescription-only medicines. Sibutramine (which was the active ingredient in Reductil) was withdrawn in Oct 2010 after a study showed an increased risk of major cardiac events. TGA investigations have shown that a number of people in Australia may have bought the product online. Consumers are advised to stop taking the product and take any remaining capsules to their local pharmacy for safe disposal. If they have any concerns arising from their use of this product, consult their health care practitioner.

Please refer to the following website in TGA for details: http://www.tga.gov.au/alert/hypnotic-poisom-capsules

In Hong Kong, the above product is not a registered pharmaceutical product.
