The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) announced that Novo Nordisk Ltd. is recalling seven batches of GlucaGen HypoKit (batch no.: FS6W939, FS6X059, FS6X196, FS6X590, FS6X717, FS6X899 and FS6Y024) due to a small number of needles being detached from the syringe. It would not be possible to use a syringe with a detached needle which could cause a delay in emergency treatment of severe hypoglycaemia.
Patients are asked to return their GlucaGen HypoKit to their community pharmacy for a replacement pack.

In Hong Kong, GlucaGen HypoKit for Inj 1mg/ml (HK-41845) is a pharmaceutical product registered by Novo Nordisk Hong Kong Ltd., and is a prescription only medicine. So far, the Department of Health (DH) has not received any adverse drug reaction report related to the product. As confirmed with Novo Nordisk, the affected batches have never been imported into Hong Kong.
